The Lemosho route has become one of Kilimanjaro’s most favored trails—and for good reason. It boasts stunning panoramic views, an excellent acclimatization profile, and some of the highest summit success rates of all the available routes. Beginning on the mountain’s western slopes, Lemosho can be completed in 6, 7, or 8-day itineraries. A standout feature of this route is the hike to Cathedral Peak, a towering point of the ancient Shira Volcano at 3,872 meters (12,703 feet), offering spectacular vistas. Another unforgettable aspect of Lemosho is the surreal Dendrosenecio kilimanjari—gigantic, otherworldly plants found only on Kilimanjaro. Notably, this was the trail chosen by 86-year-old Angela Vorobieva, who reached the summit with Altezza Travel, earning a Guinness World Record as the oldest person to conquer Kilimanjaro.

Hike through the Shira Plateau, gaining altitude gradually.
Reach Shira 2 Camp via the plateau—great acclimatization terrain with superb views.
Optional acclimatization ascent to Cathedral Peak (~3,872 m) or heading toward Lava Tower (4,600 m).
After reaching Lava Tower, descend to Barranco Camp (~3,900 m) for the night.
Conquer the Barranco Wall, followed by trekking through Heath and Alpine Desert zones.
Reach Barafu Camp, your base for the summit push.
Begin the summit push around midnight: ascend scree slopes to Gilman’s Point (5,681 m), then traverse to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).
After sunrise at the summit, descend to Barafu, then continue all the way down to Mweka Camp.
Complete the hike from Mweka Camp through forest to Mweka Gate.
Exit park, receive your summit certificate, and transfer to your hotel or airport.
